IberLEF Workshop

IberLEF (Iberian Language Evaluation Forum) is a shared evaluation campaign of Natural Language Processing systems in Spanish and other Iberian languages, the 2025 edition of which will be held as part of the 41st International Conference of the Spanish Society for Natural Language Processing (SEPLN). The 2025 edition of the SEPLN conference will take place in Zaragoza, Spain.

The aim of IberLEF is to encourage the research community to organise competitive text processing, comprehension and generation tasks, with the purpose of defining new research challenges and advancing the state of the art in Natural Language Processing challenges involving at least one of the following Iberian languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Basque or Galician. Researchers and practitioners from all areas of the Natural Language Processing and related communities are invited to submit proposals for tasks that align with the IberLEF objectives by 22 December 2024.

Proposals should be sent (in PDF format) to iberlef@googlegroups.com and include the following fields:

  • Title of the task.
  • Description of the task, highlighting:
    • Relevance and novelty of the task, and the challenges involved.
    • Evaluation measures and other relevant methodological aspects.
    • Expected target community and possible industrial application.
    • Related evaluation activities, if any.
    • Previous editions of the task, if any. In case it has been previously organised, what is the roadmap and what are the developments for 2024.
    • Language resources to be collected, created and/or reused. Please include as much detail as possible on data collection, selection and annotation procedures: sources and representativeness, training/validation/testing sizes, elicitation procedures, profile of annotators (experts, linguists, contract workers, etc.), multiple annotation policy, intellectual property rights (IPR) issues, baselines, etc.
  • Tentative timeline (please note that the final versions of the papers should be ready by 3 July 2025).
  • Organising committee: full names and affiliation of the organisers, with a brief description of their research interests, areas of expertise and experience in organising similar events.
  • Funding, if available.
  • Contact person.
  • Other relevant aspects.
Responsibilities of task organisers

Accepted task organisers should:

  • Shape the evaluation exercise according to the submitted proposal.
